MRVA team visits Palazzo Falson for Women’s Day

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the team at the Malta Residency and Visa Agency (MRVA) joined Palazzo Falson’s special gallery tour of female portraiture. Hosted by the museum’s curator Caroline Tonna and led by the museum’s knowledgeable and passionate guides, employees could admire the museum’s impressive collection and appreciate the stories and histories of the women protagonists.

The aim of the initiative was to acknowledge the importance of the role of women in all sectors of society, and to remind team members of the value of equality of opportunity, gender balance, and participation. The event also served as a team-building event, where the Agency has in place policies to foster a positive and inclusive corporate culture. The team was joined by Parliamentary Secretary for Reforms, Citizenship and Simplification of Administrative Processes Julia Farrugia Portelli, who addressed the employees and shared her insights on the issues still relevant to the development of a diverse and inclusive culture.

“Women’s participation in all areas of society is crucial to the socio-economic growth of a country as well as to the fostering of diverse ideas and capabilities in spheres like civil society, politics, and culture,” said Parliamentary Secretary Farrugia Portelli. “This initiative serves as a pro memoria of the scope, depth, and positive consequences of the active participation of women in all areas of life.”

Parliamentary Secretary Farrugia Portelli also said that, “I note with satisfaction that half of the MRVA’s managerial team are women, while the majority of the museum’s employees are also female. The government has the people’s mandate to introduce measures towards equal representation even in the highest levels in the institutions of our country.”
